Educator Conductor Singer

Michael Reilly is an award-winning music educator, conductor, and passionate advocate for the transformative power of music. His journey began with a love for choral singing and musical theater, leading him to earn advanced degrees in music education and choral conducting. At Solano Community College, where he has taught since 2015, Michael inspires students in courses ranging from music theory to choir, and was honored with the 2025 Distinguished Faculty Award for his commitment to student growth and creative excellence.

Work

My work spans the interconnected worlds of music education, choral conducting, and vocal performance, each informing and enriching the others. Through teaching, directing, and performing, I create opportunities for musical growth that extend far beyond technical skill development to encompass personal expression, community building, and lifelong learning.

About

Beyond the classroom and stage, Michael is the director of music ministries at Community Presbyterian Church in Vallejo and is dedicated to building community through song. He is also a published arranger and author, with works a musical adaptation of The Wind in the Willows (YouthPlays) and his Master’s thesis, Make a Joyful Noise: A Conductor’s Guide for the Small Church Choir.Driven by a belief in music’s ability to connect and uplift, Michael continues to create spaces where every voice is heard and every story can be sung
